College of Education for the Future , Beijing Normal University successfully held the AIED for the Future International Forum 2023

In order to jointly explore the cutting-edge issues in future education, promote international cooperation in intelligent education, cultivate students' innovative thinking and practical abilities, and enhance teachers' educational technology capabilities and pedagogical wisdom, the "AIED for the Future International Forum 2023" was held on June 25th to 26th at Beijing Normal University's Zhuhai campus.This forum was organized by Beijing Normal University's Zhuhai campus and hosted by College of Education for the Future,Beijing Normal University. It was co-sponsored by Advanced Institute of Natural Sciences, Beijing Normal University,Institute of Advanced Studies in Hum annities and Social Sciences,Beijing Normal University,International Office,Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai.The event was supported by Zhuhai Association for Science and Technology.

During the two-day forum, numerous renowned experts and scholars from both domestic and international backgrounds, as well as leaders in the field of education and representatives from industry enterprises, gathered together. Through various forms such as forum presentations, bilingual workshops, and international parallel forums, they focused on cutting-edge topics such as "Intelligent Education," "educational technology," and "artificial intelligence." They shared their research findings and experiences in the field of Intelligent Education.

The sharing in the main forum of the conference focused on intelligent education. Professor Rupert Wegerif from Cambridge University discussed dialogue design and the future-oriented educational technology theory. Professor Li Chen addressed the bottlenecks and challenges in comprehensive evaluation of basic education in China, proposing performance-based evaluation strategies based on intelligent technology. She also introduced innovative approaches and progress in the application of comprehensive evaluation of students using intelligent technology.Professor Fuchun Sun discussed the development of intelligent education and talent cultivation on the road to revitalization. He emphasized how artificial intelligence can empower education through the integration of skill development, knowledge transmission, and value shaping in the traditional education system.Some presentations had a forward-looking perspective, such as Professor Erlend Øverby's presentation titled "From Data to Information to Knowledge to Changed Behaviour and the Role of Al".Professor Sun Wei explored the production of volumetric videos and how this cutting-edge technology can be applied to education, bringing about disruptive innovation.The engaging and insightful content opened up new horizons of intelligent education for the attendees, providing them with unexpected knowledge and new methods.

The Chinese-English workshop on June 26 provided more cutting-edge information on intelligent education applications. Through five thematic presentations by Professor Bangqi Liu, Dean Yafei Wang, Yanling Li, Dai Griffiths, Tore Hoel, and Mark Johnson, the workshop further elucidated the application of artificial intelligence in the field of education from both Chinese and international perspectives, providing concrete solutions for the application of educational technology.

Finally, at the international parallel forum held at Monash University and the University of Cambridge on the afternoon of the 26th, speakers and moderators Dragan Gasevic, Yizhou Fan, Guanliang Chen, Rupert Wegerif, and Li Yuan engaged in focused discussions on the topics of "Cutting-Edge Technology and Empirical Research in Learning Analytics" and "Al Supporting Education for Collective Intelligence." These discussions aimed to encourage further contemplation among the participants regarding the shared value of educational technology for all humankind. Rupert Wegerif specifically pointed out that many current studies on "Artificial Intelligence in Education" focus on accelerating individual learning, while this topic explores the use of artificial intelligence to support collaborative learning and collective intelligence instruction.

At the closing ceremony of the forum, Bo Sun, Vice Provost of Beijing Normal University Zhuhai Campus, Vice President of College of Education for the Future, delivered a concluding speech, succinctly reviewing and summarizing the forum. Professor Bo Sun pointed out that the forum has gathered wisdom from all parties, delving into the development direction and path of future intelligent education, which is of great significance. He expressed the hope that the attending guests can continue the success of this conference, turning the important achievements of ideological collision into practice, applying them to future learning and work, and keeping pace with the times. Under the backdrop of the new era, continuous development and improvement of intelligent education, an important field of educational innovation, will contribute to cultivating future talents with innovative abilities, cooperative spirit, and a global vision.
