Teacher Introduction
For the past 30 years, Michael has successfully run and managed his own IT consulting company, providing technology consultancy and services for large academic institutions, blue chip companies and county councils. In recent years, as head of the digital transformation projects at University College London and the University of Manchester, his main role has been to liaise with university managers, business units, and technicians to ensure the smooth implementation of updates to computer networks and database systems. Before that the work has been technical in nature, specifically it has involved data migrations/technical customisations to the Oracle e-business suite, especially the HR and Payroll modules.
Recently Michael taught ‘English – Listening and Speaking’ and ‘English – Speech and Debating’ at Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai Campus remotely, now he is looking forward to teaching on campus.
Course Introduction
This course is intended to teach coding skills to beginners. It will provide a solid foundation from which students could then look to do more advanced courses, should they so choose. The first part of the course will cover basic Python programming concepts, and the second part will cover various tasks that can be automated by a computer through Python programming. There will be 2 practical assignments to complete and the course will culminate in students building a real-world app.
