Dr. Cooper’s career is characterised by a dual fascination for both computational/numerical modelling and the social value of education. As a teacher, he promoted active learning and student discovery and as a technologist, he is driven by the ideal that the design of technological solutions should be grounded in the needs of stakeholders and embrace the socio-technical paradigm. He brings a practical understanding of education and a broad expertise in computation methods, including machine learning, software architecture, and information standards. He combines experience in both the software industry and educational institutions to provide a dual perspective on theoretical/conceptual dimensions and practical production and maintenance of large scale IT systems.
